Bi-Monthly Competitions

Duston holds a “monthly” print competition, but doesn’t hold it monthly. They are held every other month (September, November, January, March, and May), but with two rounds of the competition held on the same night. This is open to all members, and all entries must be submitted 1 week before the competition (see rules below). Dates for all the print competitions can be found on the Programme page.

Rules

Print mounts must be no bigger than 500x400mm

Prints to be handed in 1 week before the competition, with a paper entry form. Entries can be made by emailing a pdi of the print (conforming to the pdi image sizing rules below) at least 1 week before the competition, and the print handed in the Tuesday before the competition. If it is not possible to get the print in before the competition it may be handed in on the night, but must be with the competition secretary by 7:30 to allow sorting to the correct order and viewing by the judge.

The competition is held over 10 rounds (5 bi-monthly competitions of 2 rounds)

Points are awarded for the top 6 placed images in each round.

PDI competition

The PDI competition is over 4 rounds, held on two nights during the year (during February and April). Each evening consists of an “open” and “set subject” competition.

Image Sizing

If you are entering a competition by sending a jpg via email, please ensure the maximum size of 1600 x 1200 pixels (w x h). This applies to both print competition entries and PDI entries. Images that are larger than this won’t be accepted, as the software used for storing, sorting and displaying the images will not accept larger formats.
